International choreographer, director, and movement educator creating contemporary performances that inspire dialogue and human connection through art.
Roman Blazhkiv is a Ukrainian choreographer and director with more than twenty-five years of experience in dance — as a performer, choreographer, teacher, and creator of contemporary interdisciplinary performance.
A former leading dancer with Ukraine's renowned Freedom Physical Theatre, he toured internationally before relocating to Bulgaria. Since 2015, he has been a guest teacher and choreographer at International Dance Academy 360 in Sofia, creating original works while mentoring the next generation of dancers.
"Movement reveals what words cannot."
In recent years, his practice has expanded into interdisciplinary and socially engaged performance, where choreography becomes a medium for dialogue, memory, and human connection. His recent projects include Facebook Choreography, Impossible Conversations, and Detached Open Air: Transit Zone Sofia — weaving personal narratives from diverse participants and communities into interdisciplinary performance.
